I’m guessing you started your Home Service Business all on your lonesome. Right? So, your daily routines (or habits) were all in your head. Then you worked hard, got busier, hired employees and yet… where are these daily ‘step-by-step’ routines of your business? STILL in your head?😲 UH-OH!

If you don’t have written, step-by-step systems and then monitor your worker’s performance- then THEY are ‘running their own show’! This should make you very, very nervous!😬

You (or your managers) must control your employee’s habits/routines by developing clear, EASY, step-by-step work procedures that ‘make it easier to do it right than to do it wrong’! Let me share just one example…

Do you even know how (or even IF?) your workers introduce themselves to a homeowner? Do you think you should know? HINT: These first two ‘doorstep minutes’ will dramatically affect the homeowner’s opinion of the job quality!

So ‘make it easier to do it right’ (and guide your employee’s routine) by taping this step-by-step checklist on their vehicle dash. Then tape the next steps on their clipboard!👌

Now think about developing these same EASY-to-follow systems for your phone dispatchers, project managers, estimating staff, production employees, office workers, etc. Imagine routine, step-by-step written systems for maintaining your vehicles and equipment, hiring and onboarding new workers, reordering supplies, accounting and job costing… the list can go on and on so going forward let’s focus on this stuff!
